Karen and I first met on a photo shoot
on June 28th, 2002. I always try to remain 100% professional during my shoots, so despite
my having been taken by her that night, it took another couple days for us to get together.
It turned out that we had a number of mutual friends (which is in fact how we met in the first place;
I had done another shoot with the
wonderful Jessica Park), which led to us meeting again on July 1st for a large dinner with
a number of friends. We consider that day to mark the beginning of our relationship, and celebrate
it as our anniversary.
During this time, I was attending Full Sail and Karen was attending UCF
(University of Central Florida). We grew quite close rather quickly. Our relationship began
hitting some bumps along the road as my graduation was nearing, as I was moving across the country to
attempt to make it in Hollywood. I had been coaching myself for over a year that no person could
keep me from achieving my goals and keep me here in Florida. As one might expect, that didn't bode
well for our relationship.
We broke it off when the time came for both of us to move. It was difficult, but I felt I didn't
have any choice, and I'm glad that I went... as I'd always be wondering "what if". It turned out
that making it in Hollywood took more resources than I had available, so I had to call it quits after
several months (even though I had been making major inroads and things looked promising). With
my single-mindedness of Hollywood fading away, Karen and I started getting closer again.
When I left Los Angeles, I didn't just return to Arizona. No, I returned to Florida to be with Karen.
I'm extremely pleased at how well things have gone. Since returning our relationship has only gotten
better and stronger. We've both matured in the past year. While there have been a few difficulties
here and there, for the most part it's absolutely amazing!
I love Karen
