PHP Lead Developer
April 2004 - Present
  • Lead a dozen-developer strong PHP team.
  • Implemented a caching system that kept the company operational during the peak traffic season.
  • Designed a core object class that lead to the refactoring of most of the codebase.
  • Overhauled the template engine with 99% backwards-compatibility.
  • Instituted a Peer-Review process.
  • Wrote a custom Perforce interface for the company's extremely aggressive release cycle, allowing code to enter a QA testing and acceptance phase.

March 2003 - April 2004
  • Design on-air, print, and outdoor promotions.
  • Produce television commercials for local companies. Filmography available.
  • Commended for organizational and presentational initiatives (such as creating Master Reel labels and indices, a comprehensive Production Order Form, and branded DVDs).
  • In charge of the 'bug' (the logo placed at the bottom right of a TV screen) and creating animated promotional ties with it.
  • Single-handedly moved the station's network broadcasts to Stereo when acting as Junior Engineer while the station was between Chief Engineers.

  • Development of the company intranet.
  • Consolidating internal websites and databases from multiple products on a variety of platforms.
  • Streamlining the exchange and organization of information within the company.
  • Working with existing groups, such as Engineering or Business Development, to design information management facilities for their needs.
  • Created a company-wide time tracker. Required collaboration with every group in the company to find a way to meet all needs in a single unified product. Gave Be Incorporated the ability to directly bill customers for time. Prior to my employment, no such facilities existed.
BeNews Corporation
Editor-in-Chief
October 1998 - January 2000
  • Lead a team of over 20 Editors from around the world, holding editors to both our style guide and the AP Style Guide.
  • Organized the quarterly BeNews Extra online publication, the last issue I managed had over 100 pages of content.
  • Delegated tasks and managed 6 section leaders.
  • Created an extensive back-end that gave our staff the ability to edit content on the public website.
  • One of my original photo elements was reprinted on a cover of PC Expert France magazine.
  • Quoted on back leaf of The BeOS Bible, by Peachpit Press.
Táve Software
Document Kit Engineer
February 1998 - February 2000
  • Táve Software developed a photo editing application for BeOS, the project and company were disbanded when Be Incorporated changed its focus off of BeOS, as we were not yet ready to port to other operating systems (although that was planned).
  • Worked on memory management facilities.
  • Integrated drawing algorithms created by other engineers.
  • Designed the document subsystem, document SDK, organization of data, etc.

  • ZVisions provided legal and financial assistance to its divisions and subsidiaries.
  • Profitability was reached within six months of its creation.
  • Temporarily closed, the two leading divisions formed into their own companies, including BeNews Corporation and Táve Software, listed above.
  • ZVisions returned in late 2003 as a Photography & Digital Media company.
